The Melbourne Storm has shown what a great side they are by beating the Parramatta Eels 26-10 in front of over 33,000 at the Telstra Dome in Melbourne.
In a classic first half that showcased brutal defence, brilliant attack and two sides that where just in great form, the Storm stuck to a simple but brutal game plan of going straight up the middle of the park and into the teeth of the Eels forward pack.
After half time the Eels flew out of the gates and it took a good ten minutes before Melbourne got back up to pace, but once they did they were back to their best.
The turning point of the game however was a stupid penalty given away by Eels center Timana Tahu. The Storm took a gift two points and from the kickoff scored a magnificent length of the field try.
It gave the Storm an 8 point buffer and it was a lead they would never give up.
Some great cover defense saved two tries the Eels were a blade of grass away from scoring and as the second wounds down the Minor Premiers crossed the line again the give the home crowd a great way to kick off a week of celebration and a mad dash to get tickets for the 2007 National Rugby League Grand Final!
The Storms form is simply ominous. They have the aura of some of the best teams I’ve ever seen such as the Broncos of the Early 90’s and the Canberra Raiders from the same period.
So its Melbourne vs Manly of the 2007 Grand Final. Its going to be a cracking game!
