The decision by Ruben Wiki to make 2008 his last season in the NRL has been met by a flood of interest from Super League clubs looking to sign up the 35 year old.
A New Zealand Rugby League legend, he won a title an NRL premiership with the Canberra Raiders back in 1994 and has played a world record 55 Test matches for his beloved Kiwi’s.
He played most of his career with the Canberra Raiders, and most thought he would play out his career there, but a big offer saw him join the New Zealand Warriors and his addition not only helped bolster their back, but also was a bit of a steeling influence on a club that was not in good shape at the time.
Wiki would be a handy addition to any Super League club. Yes, he is getting on, but I’d take Wiki over any prop running around in Super League right now thats for sure.
Wiki is one of those players that has managed to hold of father time with a big fend right to the sternum, he looks after himself, he handles injuries pretty well and he can still make a decent impact at just about any level.
If he is bought as a bonus to a team, rather than a pillar around which the entire team depends on, he would be a very good buy.
