This is a very young story coming out of New Zealand but it seems the someone within the company that owns the New Zealand Warriors allegedly offered Warriors NRL players as a bargaining chip in their effort to secure the rights to a Pacific Islands rugby union side.
Now, if this is the case, I think the NRL has to step in an take some action. Not so much in the way of penalties against those involved, but they need to secure the games interests and make sure nothing like this could EVER happen.
After all, what is there to stop someone buying an NRL club and then basically selling Leagues greatest assets to rival codes?
I also think this is yet ANOTHER reason why we need central contracts for the games biggest stars.
