The Catalan Dragons have scored an historic 37-24 win over Wigan in the Semi Finals to become the first French Rugby League clubs to ever make the Challenge Cup Final.
Not even the sin binning of Stacey Jones late in the game could stop the Dragons as they outclassed a Wigan side that didn’t look prepared for such a big game.
The Dragons will now face St Helens in the first Challenge Cup Final held at the magnificent Wembley Stadium since its redevelopment.
This is an historic day for the great game of Rugby League on so many levels.
The governing body, the RFL, has been vindicated in its push for expansion and the admittance’s of a French club.
It is a great reward for the UTC club that worked so hard and risked so much to get into Super League.
Most of all though, its a reward for all of the people in France that have fought so hard over decades against the outlawing of the game, the stripping of assets and a constant campaign run by rugby union to wipe the game out in the country.
What a great day to be a Rugby League supporter!
