Daly Cherry-Evans has retained his place in the Australian side ahead of the Kangaroos clash with the Wolfhounds in Ireland.
Cherry-Evans has been named alongside Cooper Cronk in the halves in after an outstanding performance in the Kangaroos big win over Fiji last weekend.
It looks as though Tim Sheens is once again looking to rotate players with Greg Inglis rested and an extended bench named.
Australia should smash Ireland so there isn’t a great deal the team is going to get out of this game. I’m a little surprised that the Kangaroo’s haven’t looked to settle on their best team as early as possible though and give the best lineup as many games as possible to gel as they look towards the World Cup final.
Australian Kangaroos Lineup To Take On Ireland:
1. Billy Slater
2. Jarryd Hayne
3. Brent Tate
4. Josh Morris
5. Brett Morris
6. Daly Cherry-Evans
7. Cooper Cronk
8. Paul Gallen
9. Cameron Smith (capt)
10. James Tamou
11. Greg Bird
12. Sam Thaiday
13. Nate Myles.
Interchange (Three to be omitted)
14. Boyd Cordner
15. Robbie Farah
16. Andrew Fifita
17. Corey Parker
18. Josh Papalii
19. Johnathan Thurston
20. Michael Jennings
You wouldn’t expect Johnathan Thurston or Michael Jennings to take any part in the game. It will be interesting to see what forwards are carried on the bench though.
You would think that Tim Sheens already has decided on Thurston and Cronk as his halves combination. Cherry Evan’s played so well against Fiji though. With a big performance in this game he might just get another chance in the Kangaroo’s quarter finals match which is expected to be against the United States.
It would be a brave move though to keep him in the side as the Kangaroo’s head towards the World Cup final.
