The Australian Kangaroo’s have beaten Fiji 64-0 to book a place in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup final.
It is hard to write about such a one sided match. Australia were obviously brilliant in attack while their defense once again saw them shut an opponent out. Australia have not conceded a try since their first match against England.
Fiji looked overawed by the occasion and just couldn’t match it with Australia in pretty much any area of the game. While they did come up with a few big hits and they tried hard for the full 80 minute, they just couldn’t get near the Kangaroos.
Jarryd Hayne once again played really well in the centers while Greg Inglis continued his strong form at fullback. Johnathan Thurston was named the official man of the match, but as we have seen over the course of this World Cup, that doesn’t really mean anything at all.
There are no real positives you can take out of this game for Fiji. You don’t get much out of a demolition job like this.
Overall it has been a positive World Cup for Fiji. Making their second straight semi final is a fantastic achievement and it has led to the game in Fiji receiving a huge sponsorship deal that will no doubt held develop the sport there.
This was Petero Civoniceva’s last top level Rugby League match. He has been a great servant to the game. Its a shame he went out in such a huge loss.
Australia look great, but their soft run over the World Cup is a real concern. Their only close contest was against England, and even then the Kangaroo’s looked pretty average having not played a warm up game.
We are in for a very interesting World Cup final.
