English forward James Graham has signed a contract extension with the Canterbury Bulldogs worth $2.8 million over four years.
Graham is a key signing for the Bulldogs who earlier this week signed Cronulla Sharks test star Andrew Fifita on a rich deal worth $3.4 million over four years.
There has been a lot of speculation that Graham would head back to the UK after his current contract with the Bulldogs ran out. At the end of the day though I think the money on offer was simply too good to refuse.
By re-signing with the Bulldogs James Graham will become a legitimate millionaire.
Many people will question the amount of money the Bulldogs have spent this week on two forwards. When it comes down to it though, increases in the NRL Salary cap mean that these contracts are not as outrageous as they may seem.
The money is there to spend and the Bulldogs are spending it pretty well. While it is interesting that the club is more focused on strengthening its forward pack rather than looking at its backline, it now has two very good front rowers locked into long term deals, both at the top of their game, both of which miss very few games due to injury, and two players that can play a full 80 minutes if required.
Any one of those attributes would be fantastic for a front rower to have. To have all of them…these guys are worth the money the Bulldogs will be paying them.
Attention will now turn to Sam Kasiano who has been linked to a move out of Belmore. If the Bulldogs can re-sign Kasiano as well…they are going to have one of the best forward packs I can remember being assembled at club level.
