I’m really looking forward to tonight’s match between the Penrith Panthers and Canterbury Bulldogs.
After a disappointing start to the season I think we are going to see how good the Panthers really are this year in tonight’s match. They are at home, they need a big turn around if they don’t want to start the season 0-2, and at some point the Panthers need to stop promising to be good and actually be good!
The Bulldogs meanwhile smashed the Sea Eagles last week and they impressed a lot of judges in the process. I worried that the new interchange rules would hurt the Bulldogs more than most this season but you can not fault what we saw in round one.
So we have one team looking to continue their great start to the season, and another team looking to avoid a terrible start to the season. You’ve gotta love a round two kickoff like that!
I think this is going to be one of the more even competitions we have seen in a long time. I think we will see results that seem inconsistent, but that will be more about how even the competition is rather than the effort each team is putting in.
I also think the limited interchange will effect teams from week to week. A tough game in tough conditions will really take it out of a club, and it could send a few teams into a bit of a tail spin if things don’t go their way.
As a Panthers supporter, I hope they win, however its hard to look past a Bulldogs victory.
