Let me set the scene…
The media is at a St George/Illawarra Dragons training session and they are looking for a few quick sound bites from a player or the coach heading into the clubs big clash against the Brisbane Broncos.
The club could put any number of people forward, but this time they offer up former Bronco and current Dragons fullback Darius Boyd.
Boyd didn’t want to speak to the media, and this is how the entire thing went:
Q: Up against the Broncos, excited about facing your old mates?
A: Yeah, can’t wait.Q: That excited?
A: Yep.Q: Did you watch them play last week?
A: No I didn’t.Q: What’s the strategy going into the game?
A: We’ll decide that on Wednesday I suppose.Q: Happy to score another try, it was a good one?
A: Yeah, it was good, eh.Q: Second one of the season, it’s taken a while, you must be keen to be coming into form at the right time of the season.
A: No it was good.Q: What are your thoughts on the way your team is going at the moment Darius?
A: Um, yeah, it was pretty good, eh.Q: Are you fair dinkum?
A: Yeah.
Short, sweet, to the point….he obviously didn’t feel like talking and to me, thats ok.
Well there is one group of people you don’t ever want to upset. They are a bunch of snot nosed, sniveling whingers that will turn on you in a second, and thats a scum sucking low life journalist.
The jounro’s have gone off their heads over Boyds short responses. Apparently they were bland, and he didn’t give them what they wanted, so they have compared him to Hittler, if Hittler wasn’t so good at public speaking.
Boyd didn’t feel like talking to the media for what ever reason, and there are plenty of other players at his club that would have given longer, more colourful responses for these low life gutter trash hacks to soak up and write about.
Funnily enough, Waybe Bennett is the worst of the Dragons camp for not talking to the media, a double standard that the club applies to its players if you ask me.
Boyd has been “Spoken too” to sooth the media feral response, but the fact remains that if he doesn’t want to say a single word to the media, he doesn’t have to!
The media feels a true sense of entitlement. They believe they are entitled to answers, when more of the time they are entitled to sweet FA.
I started a sports Journalism course a number of years ago and quickly realised I had to sell my soul to the devil if that was the career I wanted. I got out and focused on my one true love, lesbians.
I completely support Darius Boyd if he doesn’t want to talk to some losers with microphones. Its Australia, its a basic human right that if you don’t want to talk, you don’t have to.
This isn’t his problem. Its just upsets a bunch of whinging, low life scum suckers who have zero importance unless Darius speaks.
