The Hull Daily Mail is reporting that the Brisbane Broncos are chasing Hull KR fullback Greg Eden.
Eden is currently on loan to the Salford Red Devils. While he is only 23 years old he is a lower quality Super League player and not even close to NRL level.
For a while Eden carried the tag of “The next Billy Slater” thanks to Nathan Brown who did the usual job many Australians do over there in talking up players and the game in England in an effort to butter up their paymasters. Unfortunately that tag is now used ironically by many within the Super League fan base.
When you consider that the Brisbane Broncos already have Ben Barba and Josh Hoffman on their books, and that both of them will be joined by Anthony Milford in 2015, it is hard to imagine that the Broncos would have shown any real interest in Eden, or any other fullback for that matter.
My guess is that Eden’s manager is trying to drum up a bit of hype around his client, who is probably on his way out of Salford now that Kevin Locke has arrived there after his mid season move from the New Zealand Warriors.
If the Brisbane Broncos really are looking at signing Greg Eden, somebody needs to be fired.
