There has been a lot of mail recently that Marshall had already put pen to paper with the ARU, however that seems to be off the mark.
I’ve been very strong in my opinion that Rugby League could not afford to lose Benji Marshall to another sport. Not only is he one of the games modern day greats, but he is one of the most popular players in the National Rugby League.
With a number of the Wests Tigers youngsters stepping up in recent weeks and outplaying the more experienced players in the squad, Marshall’s ability to guide the team around the field has been on show for all to see.
At 28 years of age, Marshall has many years of good football left in him. More than enough to see him still be part of the team as these youngsters hopefully develop into stars themselves.
Benji Marshall is one of my favourite players in the NRL. While it’s never a done deal until pen is put to paper, it’s great to hear that the Tigers expect Benji to stay.
