Channel 9 Rugby League reporter Danny Weidler is reporting that Brett Stewart, Anthony Watmough and Steve Matai have all asked for a release from their contracts with the Manly Sea Eagles.
There are so many rumours surrounding the Manly Sea Eagles right now and despite their good form off the field, every man and his dog will tell you there are issues among the playing group off it.
A lot of the unrest is said to stem from the fact the Sea Eagles didn’t even offer Glenn Stewart a contract extension.
Losing any one of those players would be a blow to the Sea Eagles. Losing all of them would almost put the club into rebuilding mode.
We will see if Weidler is on the money with this one. You’d think all three would only ask for a release if they had a contract ready to sign elsewhere.
It’s well know that Matai has a contract ready to go at the New Zealand Warriors. Where Stewart and Watmough would end up however is not as clear.
