Brisbane Broncos and Papua New Guinea test hooker James Segeyaro has allegedly tested positive to a performance enhancing drug according to Courier Mail journalist Peter Badel.

It is still very early days but a proven positive drugs test could see the end of Segeyaro’s career in the NRL.
No doubt more will come to light over the the coming weeks and months. It is never good to see this happen in the game but it is a good sign if ASADA and the NRL’s drug testing program is finding those who decide to break the rules.
On Twitter NRL Physio provided a bit of information about the alleged substance involved.
James Segeyaro tested positive to performance enhancing substance LGD-4033 (via @badel_cmail @brentread_7). Is claimed to promote muscle growth without side effects of some other PED’s (eg steroids). Not only is it banned in pro sports, is not yet cleared through clinical trials

Lack of medium/long term clinical trials means info on health impact/safety is unknown. Originally developed for treatment of muscle wasting conditions (e.g. osteoporosis, muscular dystrophy, cancer). Has been used in animals such as horses
