Reports are filtering out of the corporate media this afternoon that suggest Dylan Brown has told Parramatta Eels teammates he will leave the club at the end of this year to sign what is reported to be a massive 10 year deal with the Newcastle Knights that is supposed to be around $13.4 million in total.
It will take some time to see if this is all true, and if the Knights really are stupid enough to spend that much money on an “OK” five-eight.
Brown is a good defender but he is not the sort of player you build your side around for the next decade. I don’t blame him at all for taking what will be the biggest overall deal in the history of the game though.
The Knights have been a very poorly run club for a long time, and this looks like another case of the club trying to find a quick and easy solution to all of their problems.
It sure is better than a complete clean-out of the clubs management and coaching staff…
