Eliud Kipchoge has become the first person in history to run a marathon in under two hours crossing the line at 1:59:40 in Vienna.
The mark has been an elusive one for decades but in recent years it was felt that someone would eventually break the two hours mark.
The 34 year old Kenyan was a gold medalist at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and held the previous world record mark at 2:01:39.
The former 5000m gold medalist at the 2003 World Championships in Paris has has a remarkable career, having won 8 of the major world marathons leading up to todays outstanding achievement.
