Not a chance.
As the WCC matchup between sentellins and the Broncos draws ever closer there seems to be a consensus that this is the real deal.
The match has been re-arranged to suit the Broncos, they have more prep time than previous NRL sides as do the saints and we have people predicting a classic.
Let me stop you right there.
Anyone who knows anything about the Aussie sporting psyche will realize the broncos aren’t taking this seriously. If they were taking it seriously they wouldn’t have declined the offer to have it staged in Australia. When it comes to sport the aussies will take every advantage they can get to ensure they get the right result, ESPECIALLY when they have had their pride hurt, or been beaten.
So why didn’t they have it staged in australia?
Beacuse when it comes down to it, the recent WCC defeats simply haven’t hurt the aussie pride, they don’t care about them. They know their competition is superior to ours and they know some little one off game proves nothing.
The Brisbane Broncos will care far more about getting their preparation right for the round one clash, so there’ll be using this as a warm up game.
Saints really should win this, everything is stacked in their favour, they have home advantage and have already kicked off their domestic season, whereas the Broncos are still in pre-season, allbeit further along than previous teams.
Whatever the result, i just hope we don’t hear this crap afterwards about it being ”good for the British game”, because really, it isn’t. All it does is give us a false ego boost on our standing within the game.
