The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that five of the current Cronulla Sharks squad will be sent show cause letters by ASADA that will basically force them to fight against a possible drugs suspension.
With a number if the original 17 players that ASADA had focused on having moved on to other clubs and in some cases retired from the game, the Sharks will not face the loss of an entire teams worth of players, but losing five players will still be a huge blow.
The Sharks are anchored to the bottom of the NRL ladder after their 42-24 loss to the Parramatta Eels on Monday night. The loss wasn’t helped by news that Andrew Fifita is expected to miss a number of weeks after suffering an ankle injury during the game.
It is a really tough time for Sharks supporters right now. With the team playing so poorly and the ASADA investigation sure to smash the club yet again, there isn’t too much for them to look forward to in 2014.
