I Asked Artificial Intelligence To Predict The Next 75 NRL Grand Final Winners….

Artificial intelligence is kind of fun when you ask it weird questions. So I decided to ask Twitter “Grok” who would win the next 75 NRL Grand Finals….just so we could have some idea how the rest of the century would turn out!

Now, before we proceed, keep in mind these are not MY predictions. These are predictions made by AI, and I will post the link to the question I asked so you can see this is the case. So don’t get upset at me if Grok didn’t think your team would win a Grand Final over the next 75 years!

How Did It Come Up With The Answers?

Grok set some perimeters it would look at to come up with the answers. It made a point to mention 4 main areas that it would base these on.

Historical Context: Basically looking at what has happened over the NRL’s history, which is maddeningly only started at 1998, and didn’t take into account everything between 1908 and 1997. But hey, its the AI’s answer, not mine!

Current Trend: Basically who has been winning lately, who has been there or there about’s, and making a guesstimate as to how those trends will continue.

Future Assumptions: This took into account things like possible expansion, possible salary cap changes, how dynasties rise and fall over time, things like that.

Pattern: This one was a little related to the last, looking at how teams in the past would rise and fall, and in its future predictions calculating the odds of those cycles happening again.

Groks Decade By Decade Prediction Of The NRL Grand Final Winners

This was pretty interesting to read, just in so far as you have to remember that it was being completely made up by AI!

I actually going to post the exact answer Grok gave to my question below, because it is fairly straight to the point!

Who Will Be The Big Winners In The NRL Over The Next 75 Years?

So we all want to see how Grok predicted our own teams would do right?

The Melbourne Storm came out at the top of the list, and it makes you wonder if Craig Bellamy has another 75 years left in him. Brisbane Broncos fans couldn’t be too upset with the results, as they came in with the second most NRL Grand Final wins, and my very own, mighty Penrith Panthers were in this place, and I’m pretty happy about that!

What is a bit of a surprise to me is the number of teams that it predicted WON’T win an NRL Grand Final in the next 75 years! It predicts that expansion clubs will win multiple NRL Grand Finals, even though those clubs are not part of the NRL just yet, and other established clubs will be lucky to get one NRL Title in the next 75 years. Thats a rough trot!

It also suggests the Penrith Panthers run of current success will continue, with the club winning 3 more Premierships which would make it 7 Grand Final victories on the trot!

It’s at this point I personally want to give a shout out to all the Parramatta Eels fans still around in 2049. You did it! You finally did it!

Most Successful Teams: Melbourne Storm (13 wins), Brisbane Broncos (12), Penrith Panthers (11), Sydney Roosters (8), Canterbury Bulldogs (6), Perth (6), PNG (5), Christchurch (5).

Surprise Winners: Teams like Canberra (2053), Cronulla (2057), and St George Illawarra (2052) break long droughts, reflecting rare but plausible upsets.

Expansion Impact: New teams (Perth, PNG, Christchurch, Sunshine Coast, Sydney Stars) win 25 titles combined, showing the league’s growth.

Dynasties: Penrith (2025–2027, 2081–2082), Brisbane (2031–2033, 2071–2072), Melbourne (2061–2063), and Roosters (2041–2043) enjoy multi-year runs.

In Conclusion

Honestly, I think Artificial intelligence has a way to go before it can predict who will win the next 75 NRL Grand Finals. While you can see where it come to those conclusions, lets face it, its pulling these winners out of its arse, like it was just some common journalist or something!

Grok came up with this final bit of information as a conclusion. As promised, you can see the complete answer it gave by clicking this link right here: https://x.com/i/grok/share/CAKLw3CH3M0jkH31FcCG0caTs

This prediction blends realism with imagination, rooted in the NRL’s current landscape while allowing for evolution over 75 years. It’s impossible to account for every variable—player retirements, coaching changes, or even global events—but this list offers a glimpse into a possible future. By 2100, the NRL might look unrecognizable, yet the passion for the Grand Final will surely endure. What do you think—any teams you’d bet on (or against) in this long-term vision?
