The 2024 season was a bit of a rough one for the Brisbane Broncos. They come into the 2025 season with a new coach in Michael Maguire, some veteran leadership in Ben Hunt, and they kick their season off against a Sydney Roosters team who has been thrust into a full rebuild after losing so many players in the off season.
After lots of talk about the Broncos going through a brutal pre season under Maguire, I want to see them come out breathing fire in round one against the Roosters in a game that will be played at the Sydney Football Stadium.
The Broncos have always had the talent. If you think back to around 7 years ago people were talking about two teams with a bunch of very good juniors coming through.
The Brisbane Broncos, and the Penrith Panthers.
While the Broncos did make the 2023 NRL Grand Final, and looked to have it won, it was not to be. They followed that up with a really disappointing season last year.
Hopefully Maguire has this team set to bounce back.
They have a really good forward pack. One of the very few forward packs that push the Penrith Panthers all the way during games. They also have some very dangerous outside back, and pure game breakers like Reece Walsh, Kotoni Staggs, and when he is available, Ezra Mam.
They also have veteran leaders in Ben Hunt and Adam Reynolds, with the latter also providing Premiership winning experience.
All of the ingredience are there, its just a matter of making it work, and I have faith that Maguire can make that happen.
I want to see it start with this first game against the Roosters though. I don’t want to see them having a slow start to the season and loses games they should win easily.
