Former New South Wales center James Roberts has been asked for, and granted a released by the Brisbane Broncos, and then immediately signed by the South Sydney Rabbitohs until the end of 2022.
The Rabbitohs found themselves with cap room to spend after the sudden retirement of Greg Inglis. Roberts meanwhile found himself on the outer at the Brisbane Broncos, having played reserve grade the last couple of weeks.
Roberts, who seems to cause a few issues for himself here and there off the field, will be hoping to get back to his best form under old coach Wayne Bennett who only a few weeks ago rubbished claims that Roberts was on the Rabbitohs radar. If he can recapture his best form he could be a very handy signing for the Bunnies.
