Paul Kent of the Daily Telegraph is reporting that Kieran Foran is looking to join the New Zealand Warriors on a one year deal.
The move would probably be a good one for Foran when you consider the troubles he has reportedly had this last year or so that led to his eventual release by the Parramatta Eels.
It will be very interesting to see how this works for the Warriors under the salary cap. The Warriors have some top class players in their lineup and the addition of Foran would give them pretty much the first choice New Zealand test players at 1, 6, 7 and 9.
Even if Foran chooses to take a lower salary than he normally could command I wouldn’t be shocked if the NRL stepped in and took a very good look at the deal. Keep in mind it wasn’t too many years ago when the NRL decided that Israel Folau would be on the Parramatta Eels books for too low of a salary. I would hope the same didn’t happen to the Warriors in this case.
Obviously Foran would be a fantastic addition to the Warriors but you’d hope he turns up ready to get back to playing football. Only Kieran Foran knows if he is ready to do that right now.
