The National Rugby League Integrity Unit has cleared Newcastle Knights owner Nathan Tinkler of any wrong doing in regards to a bet he placed on the Newcastle Knights in 2011.
Tinkler placed the bet just a few days after assuming control of the Knights and soon after reported the best to the NRL and to David Gallop, saying he was unaware of any rules that prohibited him from betting on Rugby League in his new capacity as a team owner.
The NRL’s integrity Unit has moved swiftly on this issue, which is great to see. In the past something like this would have dragged on for way too long.
If there is one area of the NRL that has impressed so far it has been the Integrity Unit.
This will be welcome relief for Nathan Tinkler. he has enough on his plate right now than to have to deal with something like this.
