Let’s Talk About The Best Places For Lachlan Galvin To End Up!

It’s not too often that a young bloke makes his first grade debut in the NRL and he just looks like he belongs. That was the case with the Wests Tigers Lachlan Galvin in 2024. He stood out in a very poor Wests Tigers team, and he looked like he could turn into the type of players that the club could maybe look to build around if he continued to improve his game.

Almost immediately however, his management started being very aggressive. They had the Wests Tigers right where they wanted them. See, the Tigers can’t afford to let a player like Galvin walk the same way they lost James Tedesco. Tigers supporters would lose their minds!

So you have a good young prospect, who already looks the good, at a team desperate to retain him, and a number of other clubs who are desperate to sign him. Perfect for Galvin and his management.

Let me make it clear right now…I hope Galvin is a Wests Tigers lifer! I hope he develops into an Origin and Test star, and I hope he does it all while playing his whole career at the Wests Tigers. So this isn’t against the Tigers, but its something we do need to have a look at.

So, where would he end up if not for the Tigers? Lets have a look.

Sydney Roosters

Shock horror, the team with no local junior base would love to scoop up another good young five-eight from Sydneys west! The Roosters have a terrible side running out there in 2025 and they will have a huge amount of salary cap space to spend. If Galvin shows improvement in 2025, look for the Roosters to try and get him on a long term deal.

Parramatta Eels

Wouldn’t he be a perfect replacement for Dylan Brown! While Brown is a very good defender, Galvin would be an instant upgrade on the attacking side of the ball, and he would fit in nicely with the Eels plans to slowly rebuild the club.

Manly Sea Eagles

This is a left field one, but you know what, eventually Daly Cherry-Evans is going to retire, and it’s going to happen sooner rather than later. What a nice replacement Galvin would be, and on about the same money DCE is on right now.

St George/Illawarra Dragons

I think the Dragons would have to make a ridiculous, godfather offer that Galvin just couldn’t turn down. No quality players have wanted to go to the Dragons for many years now. They’ve had to rely on everyone else’s discarded players. They’d have the money available, but its a wasteland of a club right now.

Cronulla Sharks

Would you rather have Nicho Hynes as you big money player, or Lachlan Galvin? I know which one I’d rather game. They’d have to move Hynes out of there, but as previously stated, thats why the Dragons are for.

Brisbane Broncos

The Broncos currently have one of the oldest halves pairings in Rugby League history. They are also on big money, especially as a package deal. I could see the Broncos deciding to move on from Reynolds or Hunt, just to reset their timeline, and that money available would be a long way to getting Galvin on their books. Of course, he’d need to want to leave Sydney for that.

South Sydney Rabbitohs

It’s a long shot, but the Bunnies need a big reset and to sort out where they spend the money in their team. They have so much money wrapped up in very expensive backs. Getting rid of a few players on big money and bringing in Galvin would at least be a starting point for the club. Does Bennett really have time for a rebuild like that though?

STAY!!!

I just hope he re-signs with the Wests Tigers to be honest. It would be terrible for him to leave the club with a whole career ahead of him. Where ever he ends up, he’s going to be very well paid!
