Although the NFL and the NRL are two completely different sports, the skill sets can often merge without any problems. Below are the players from the 2012 season of the NFL that I believe would make up the best NRL outfit. The obvious deficiency in this side is the kicking game, as the NFL does not have an attacking kicking game at all. Although given the way RG3 plays, I doubt he would have any dramas with a chip chase.
1. Trindon Holliday
Exceptional kick and punt returner who set a record by returning the longest kick and punt return for touchdowns in playoff history. NRL player: Ben Barba
2. AJ Green
Outstanding wide receiver with glue on his hands. Can go up and get anything, and can beat most down the straight. NRL Player: Lote Tuqiri
3. Adrian Peterson
Strong, powerful running back who would record the most tackle breaks in history. In the first game. NRL Player: Konrad Hurrell
4. Arian Foster
Another strong, powerful running back who also has a great pair of hands on him. NRL Player: Michael Jennings
5. Richard Sherman
A cornerback who had the most passes defended all year with several interceptions, a couple returned for touchdowns. Has a great pair of hands, great speed and an exceptional read of defence. NRL player: Ashley Graham
6. Tim Tebow
Bagged by everyone for not living up to the hype, Tebow would be the perfect ball playing pivot. Has the skills to be a Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback, with the size and strength to be a running back. Would fit right in here. NRL Player: John Sutton
7. Robert Griffin III
Does some freakish things on a football field. Is by far the most mobile QB in the game, and put up rushing stats that most running backs would love to have. NRL Player: Benji Marshall
8. Patrick Willis
A very strong linebacker with an incredible ability to read defences. Is very quick and part of a 49ers Defence that will win the Superbowl. NRL Player: James Tamou
9. Aaron Rodgers
A very intelligent quarterback who reads the game as good as Tom Brady. The difference is that Rodgers is deceptively quick when running and makes a lot of plays out of the pocket. NRL Player: Cameron Smith
10. Ndamukong Suh
Suh is a defensive tackle that possesses explosive speed and strength for a big man. Regularly finds himself going too far as well. There is a fine line between tough and dirty. NRL Player: Jared Waerea-Hargreaves
11. Calvin Johnson
Despite being a wide receiver, Calvin Johnson is perfect for the back row. He is big, strong and tough. He set the record for most receiving yards in a season, despite being regularly double and triple teamed. Nickname is Megatron, but really, Megatron should have the nickname “Calvin Johnson”. NRL Player: Sonny Bill Williams.
12. Rob Gronkowski
A tight end who currently owns the record for most touchdowns in a year. He possesses good speed and a great pair of hands. Is light on his feet for a big man, and being a tight end, is not afraid of the tough stuff. NRL Player: Sam Burgess
13. Brandon Jacobs
A running back who stands at 6’4 and weighs 264 pounds. He is pure strength and speed. He can beat you through the middle or down the side. Is one angry human too, and loves to hurt people. NRL Player: Tony Williams
