After a 2024 season that was derailed numerous times by injury, news that Mitch Moses would miss round one of the 2025 season should come as a real concern to Parramatta Eels supporters.
Moses is suffering from soreness around a surgically repaired foot injury he suffered last season. The injury was repaired using screws to keep the bone in his foot stabilised as it healed and now, he is feeling pain there.
The news comes in the same week as news came through that Moses had signed a long term deal to remain at the Parramatta Eels.
This is one of those injuries, and areas of the body that you just can’t rush and get him back out on the field ahead of time. Especially for a player like Moses whose explosive acceleration and footwork is such a big part of his game.
Hopefully this pain is only temporary and not something Moses now have to deal with for the rest of his career.
Dylan Brown will now have to step up as the Eels number one playmaker with Moses out, and he might be in that role for a number of weeks.
NRL Physio did a great rundown of Moses’ injury.

No certainty around his prognosis either with the Eels indicating they will “make an assessment on a return date next week.”
