As Sonny Bill Williams signed a 5 years contracted estimated to be worth about $2.5 million dollars with the Bulldogs last week, it was revealed that the New Zealand Warriors were keen to sign the New Zealand sensation but simply could not afford him.

The New Zealand Warriors, a team based in New Zealand that has somehow managed to sign only one of the myriad of great New Zealand players in the NRL (Rubin Wiki), can’t afford one of the highest profile New Zealand players in the game?
The New Zealand Warriors needed Sonny Bill Williams like no other team in the league. His signing would have been a revelation for the struggling club. It would have vaulted them to must see TV and turned them into one of the highest profile clubs in the game.
Williams would have brought so much media attention to the Warriors that they would have become darlings of the corporate world. New Zealand’s NRL club with one of Rugby League’s biggest and brightest young stars would have had the sponsors lining up to link up with the hottest new thing in town.
Williams would have drawn fans through the gates. For a club struggling to attract fans, Williams addition would have instantly boosted crowds as New Zealanders turn up to see their great young star returning home to play for his home town team.
In short, Williams signing with the Warriors would have been a turning point for the club.
But no, the Warriors deemed him to expensive and decided against making room under the salary cap for a player who would have been worth his weight in gold.
For the Warriors to be unable to pull their thumb out of their arse and get into a position to make sure they end up with Williams just shows what a pathetic state the club is in and how stupid some of the people running the club really are.
It doesn’t take a genius to realize that Williams addition would have paid for itself!
So instead of Sonny Bill Williams the Warriors have decided to stick with the losing side they have had for the last few season. Why have Sonny Bill Williams when you can have any one of a bunch of useless losers the Warriors have on their books!
