Courier Mail journalist Chris Garry has tweeted that the New Zealand Warriors have sacked coach Matthew Elliott.
This doesn’t come as much of a surprise as his record at the Warriors has lined up with his losing records in the past with the Canberra Raiders and the Penrith Panthers.
The Warriors were terrible in their loss to the Cronulla Sharks on Saturday. They looked like a team that had just given up the fight.

I tweeted that if it was my money funding the team, I’d start looking for a new coach. It seems like my thoughts were mimicked by the teams ownership group.
I have been told for a LONG time that current Wigan coach Shaun Wane would end up coaching the New Zealand Warriors. I guess now we will find out of that is the case.
As for Elliott, you’d think this is the end of his NRL coaching career.
UPDATE: Andrew McFadden has been named New Zealand Warriors coach for the rest of the season
