The Manly Sea Eagles have run out 30-6 winners over the South Sydney Rabbitohs, ending Souths amazing season and putting the Sea Eagles within one game of the NRL Grand Final.
Its was a tough, close game for most of the match with South’s defense holding out Manly well, but a critical call on a late his on Manly Kicker Matt Orford (That was a wrong call) seemed to break Souths spirit and from that point on Manly started to pull away in the contest.
While it was a big win on the scoreboard Manly do have a few issues.
There is no doubt that the worst player in the Manly side in Jamie Lyon. He is a liability.
Matt Orford once again went missing and made mistakes when the pressure was on and the Sea Eagles must be thankfull that Michael Monaghan is there to guide the team around the park when Orford goes missing.
You have to question the clubs investment in two players that just can’t get the job done.
On a positive note, Steve Menzies moved into second place outright on the all time try scoring list scoring a double and just showing he is one of the games true legends.
For the Sea Eagles Menzies, Monaghan, King, Matai and Brett Stewart were fantastic all night while for the Bunnies Cusak and Asotasi led from the front all night.
Manly now get the critical week off while for Souths, the season is all over.
