This is getting off to a great start. 3 out of 7 predictions correct and those were the obvious ones!
Hull FC vs Castleford, Thursday 24th, 8pm, SKY
It’s really not a good season for us Black and Whites. Thank God Bradford didn’t get their six-points deduction revoked or we could’ve been in serious trouble. Castleford are flying high and last week’s draw against Leeds just shows how far they’ve come this season. Once again, I don’t see FC winning, despite it being against Cas, one of our biggest rivals. I think the Cas halfbacks will run the show as opposed to Hull FC’s, whichever combination he picks this week. Castleford to win by 18 points.
Salford vs Leeds, Friday 25th, 8pm, SKY
I’m not entirely sure about this one. Salford have won their last three and Leeds really had to dig deep for the draw last week. As for the uncharacteristic temper of Sinfield, we’ll keep quiet about that one! Salford may also have Griffin and Lee banned so it could go either way. I think Leeds will edge it but it will be a hard fought battle. Leeds to win by 12 points.
St Helens vs Widnes, Friday 25th, 8pm
It seems like no team actually wants to win the league this year! Saints have had a fairly easy last couple of games against Bradford and London so really need to prove that they still deserve to be at the top. On the other hand, Widnes need to secure their play-off place so will give it their all. I think Widnes might sneak this one. Widnes to win by 4 points.
London vs Hull KR, Saturday 26th, 3pm
Neither are really in any form at the moment. London are building for next year in the Championship and Rovers can get into the play-offs. Rovers to win by 20+ points.
Bradford vs Wigan, Sunday 27th, 3pm
Again, Bradford’s heads have gone down as they’ve officially been relegated. Wigan have won the last three and can overtake St Helens if they win. Wigan to win by 40+ points.
Huddersfield vs Catalans, Sunday 27th, 3pm
I think this could be the game of the weekend. Both have been pretty inconsistent this year but still have a strong grip on their play-off places with Huddersfield in sixth and Catalan below them in seventh. It’ll be a tough match-up between these two so it could end in a draw. However, I’m going for a Huddersfield win by 6 points.
Warrington vs Wakefield, Sunday 27th, 3pm
Both of these teams had a great run of form but both lost last weekend. They faced tough opposition and this could be a factor. I think it will be a good game but not a great game. Wakefield have definitely been the surprise package as of late and Warrington need a win to get back into the top 4. For me, Warrington to win by 4 points.
