When you heard the Titans would have to wait a year before they could make use of their brand new, made for Rugby League Stadium at Robina it was a bit dissapointing.
Now……who cares…..its finally here! The Titans Stadium is not complete and boy it looks good.
You can see pictures of the Titans new stadium and transport hub by clicking here.
Its an unusual sort of stadium for Australia. There are lost of seats behind the goal posts, something you normally see in England where fans enjoy sitting behind the posts, so it will be interesting to see how that effects the Titans crowds.
It will also be interesting to see what type of atmosphere the stadium generates. Fans will be right on top of the action and there looks like there will not be a bad seat in the stadium.
There is room for future expansion of the stadium if needed however I doubt you’ll see the stadium becoming too massive, not with Suncorp Stadium less then an hours drive away.
The Titans have shown how expansion should be done. They worked hard to get the front office and coaching staff in place. They signed good players and have built a good culture.
They got the government to build them a new stadium, they have extablished themselves in the Rugby League setup of the Gold Coast and, most importantly, they have worked hard to become a part of the community, a real source of pride.
The club is also builing an amazing centre to house all of their football operations. It will include the club offices as well as medical and training facilities.
At the end of the day you’d like every expansion effort to be a well handled as this. I think thats why the NRL should start putting feelers out for expannsion that may happen further down the track.
