Broncos center and Queensland and Australian winger Brent Tate will leave the Brisbane Broncos and join the New Zealand Warriors next season after signing a three year deal.
Tate will add much needed experience, consistancy and impact to the Warriors backline.
Tate’s brother-in-law Steven Price is the captain of the Warriors and it will be interesting to see how he adapts to the change of environment.
I’m a big fan of Brent Tate. After suffering a career threatening neck injury he battled back, goijng out of his way to use a special neck brace during games, and he plays as physical today as the day he made his first grade debut.
The Warriors have signed three top class players in recent years in Price, Wiki and now Tate. Now I, along with most New Zealand fans, would like to see the club target New Zealands best tallent.
I was critical of the Warriors earlier this season for not doing everything they could to sign Sonny Bill Williams. They didn’t sign Roya Asotasi last year and even this year, instead of signing New Zealand test center Paul Whatuira they have signed Tate.
Its an interesting direction the claub has chosen to take. Is the only New Zealand based national Rugby League club turning its back on elite Kiwi tallent?
