So the Warriors deliberately and systematically cheated the salary cap. They turned themselves in and were willing to cop the punishment.
Somehow, the NRL decided to only take 4 premiership points away from their 2006 total. Thats like taking the free points from the bye away….a NOTHING penalty. And yet, according to some media outlets, there was a threat by Warriors ownership to withdraw the team from the 2006 season if the penalty handed out was to severe.
Now, I’m not a corporate lawyer….but David Gallop is. And so is pretty much anyone who is anyone that runs the game of Rugby League. So I imagine that any owner of a club who decided they were going to pull their side out of the competition two weeks before a season started
would find themselves knee deep in legal strife before they could even say “Fush un chups”.
