The West Tigers have beaten the St George/Illawarra Dragons 24-16 at the Sydney Football Stadium.
The Tigers were without Benji Marshall after just two minutes when the champions five-eigth left the field with a knee injury. It looks ominous for Marshall who looks to stop and prop and wince in paid without having been touched before being taken in a tackle.
Those are usually the season ending injuries and that would be a cruel and bitter blow for Marshall who has been cursed with injuries his entire career.
The club will get scans asap, fingers crossed the damage isn’t as bad as first feared.
The Tigers looked great.
They look as mobile as ever but their pack is bigger had had noticably more punch than they have had over recent years.
Robbie Farah looked amazing at hooker and controlled the entire game. He’ll be the New South Wales hooker without question if he is fit and this form continues.
The Tigers unearthed yet more impressive young players and Sheens coaching ability really shone through as the club changed its playing style to accomodate the loss of Marshall.
As for the Dragons, its basically the same story for the last few years.
You can see the talent they have, and when they hook it all up they look great, but they are just so dumb and erratic!
You could see that coach Nathan Brown just have little else he can give to this team. After the match he told reporters “Ive never been as dissapointed. It’s just disgraceful.”.
