Samoa has beaten Papua New Guinea 38-4 in a dominant performance over a very poor PNG outfit.
The first half of this match couldn’t have been any more one sided.
A try in the first few minutes by Samoa was a sign of things to come. Papua New Guinea turned the ball over way too often to be any sort of challenge in the first half and it seemed that Samoa made them pay every single time.
The 28-0 half time lead to Samoa probably flattered Papua New Guinea. It was that bad…
The second half was a little more respectable for Papua New Guinea. They scored early in the second half and put Samoa under a lot of pressure. At one point Samoa looked a little rattled as The Kumuls started to make breaks. Unfortunately, none of these breaks could be turned into points.
While Samoa didn’t look all that good in the second half, they did enough to get the job done. Thats all you can ask for really.
Anthony Milford was named the man of the match. He looked really sharp in this game. While the heavy conditions are not the best for a player with amazing footwork like him, he still managed to cause a lot of problems for PNG.
Samoa are really shaping as a team to watch in the World Cup. They do have their lapses at times in games but if they can stay switched on for a full 80 minutes I have no doubt they can match it with a side like England.
Yes, It was no suprise to me that the bastardized Kiwi B heritage team rolled over the honest, plucky PNG.
The bastardized Kiwi B heritage team certainly look capable of a semi final birth, though I think the australian heritage team with italian sounding names could have something to say about that.
